    This section of the chapter examines some survey research techniques currently under development and testing.  Some researchers have experimented with surveys conducted via fax machines, for example.

    Today, the most interesting new possibility would seem to be online surveys, conducted via the internet.  The most obvious problem is that not everyone can be reached via the internet, and online surveys will, therefore, only represent those who are on the net.  As you'll see, however, researchers are experimenting with ways of addressing that problem.
