While qualitative and quantitative data analysis are often, regretably, viewed as competing approaches to understanding social life, I've tried to stress their complimentarity in this book.  In the final section of Chaper 13, I suggested that even quantitative data can sometimes be understood more easily in a qualitative format.  You may be surprised.
