Chapter Fourteen.  Quantitative Data Analysis

BIVARIATE ANALYSIS
    Percentaging a Table
    Constructing and Reading Bivariate Tables

Bivariate analysis, the analysis of two variables at a time, move beyond the logic of subgroup comparisons to that of causal analysis.  This section will examine that logic in detail and will introduce you to some of the statistical techniques for conducting bivariate analyses.

For the most part, however, we'll limit our analyses to percentage tables, sometimes called contingency tables.  Because they are not overly demanding in terms of statistical calculations, they illustrate the logic of causal analysis in a form that anyone can follow.

You will come away from this section of the chapter being able to create, read, and understand bivariate tables.
