Well, let's see. Did anything significant happen in January?
Well, there was one thing. . .

Evelyn Fay Babbie - January 7, 2001 - 8 pounds, 9 ounces
We went to Portland last month for Christmas and
New Year's--and planned to stay on until the baby arrived. We had
return tickets on January 6th, which seemed safe enough, but Evie decided
to sleep in. After debating whether to rewrite our tickets so we could
hang around Portland poking Ara's belly and asking how she felt, we decided
to return home on schedule. We had breakfast with the kids on the morning
of the 6th, flew home around noon, and Ara went into the hospital at 6:30
that night. After twelve hours of labor, including 4 hours of pushing,
Evie arrived at 6:21 a.m. on the 7th--one day before my birthday. She
is, hands down, the greatest birthday present I could imagine.
