September 2002

This was a very busy month. . .not bad, just really busy.  As a consequence, there wasn't much time for fun things to report on.  I could talk about revising textbooks and preparing classes or. . .gasp. . .committee meetings, but nobody wants to hear about that.

There was one break in the day-to-day gring, however.  Joy (nee) Trenhaile, whom we've known every since before she was born.  Well, she's all grown up now, and had the good sense of timing to schedule her wedding on Sheila's birthday.  Not only that, she located the wedding on Maui, so we really had no choice but to abandon Anaheim for a long weekend.

The wedding was a delight, we were together with Honolulu and Portland friends, and we made some new friends.  In the process, we got an experience of the Ka'anapali coast of Maui, which we hadn't seen in over 20 years.

While we were there, we felt we might as well observe Sheila's birthday.  I think she felt fully observed and honored.

Come to think of it, it wasn't all that bad a month.
