June 11, 2004 - Copenhagen

I woke at 4:42 this morning to get some work done somewhere in the hotel.  (I tend to adjust quickly to local time zones.)  To my utter delight, I discovered that BOTH bags arrived "late last night," as the desk clerk explained.  I assume  the bag that arrived first refused transit to the hotel without its mate (which Sheila and I would do if one of us had been left in London) though one of the bags appeared draped in seaweed so who knows.  In any event, we were now ready to begin our European adventure for real.

We had been told that Copenhagen was a great walking city and that was our experience.  After walking 15-20 blocks from the hotel, we found ourselves on a canal, which offered canal tours.  So we took one.  It meandered through various parts of the city, past many notable buildings, including many fascinating towers, spires and steeples, which I would be sharing with you now, except that I inadvertently erased all the photos in two quick keystrokes after processing 112 photos after the trip.  There was one of this steeple representing four intertwined dragon tails and another with a spiral ramp. . .

Actually, I erased all the photos but one--this shot of the Little Mermaid statue from her retiring side.

After a little napping, a little repacking, and some bathroom-style laundry, we were ready for dinner and some more adventures.  Many of the lost photos were from a couple of hours we had spent in the Tivoli Garden, the world's oldest amusement park, which was located about three blocks from our hotel.  So we went back.  Here are just a few shots to give you a sense of Copenhagen's most famous attraction.
